Village goes Global - Helen Harper (Herald) Internet: Llanbedrog website set up to give information to tourists
A new community website has been set up in Llanbedrog providing a wealth of information about the village. Alan Harper-Smith, who runs the Wem Farm Manor Farm, providing self catering holiday cottages and B&B in the village, has just launched the website to promote the area and its facilities. Alan explained: "I did a course in Caernarfon with Cyfle and since then I've done a few sites for other people as well. There are about 20 pages on the new site". He continued: "There are numerous excellent websites that are dedicated to the Llyn Peninsula, which we recommend that people use for information on other parts of Llyn. We apologise for not having a Welsh version of the website available at this time. If anybody would like to volunteer to translate the pages into Welsh, please get in touch. "We have tried to keep this site relatively simple for people to find the information that they are looking for. It is basically an information linking site with many hyperlinks to the websites of local businesses, to allow people to do their research for holiday or local purposes. It took me about a week and a half to do and I didn't want to duplicate what other people have done on websites." The end result is a colourful informative site about the village which will prove to be extremely useful to people visiting the area. The site includes photos of the beach, and information on the history of the village and surrounding areas. The site also has a search facility for visitors to track down information about accommodation, places to visit, walk and eat, and news about events in the village, to name just a few. And one of the interesting additions to the site are the links to the BBC pages on the weather and tides for Pwllheli. There are also useful links to the Arrive Alive website with information about the locations of the speed detector vans all over North Wales. At the moment, there is also potential for local businesses to advertise on the site, and add a link to their own pages. For more information about the website log onto www.llanbedrog.info. |
