Outline Content

The course will be very interactive, with short inputs on theory followed by longer sessions where skills can be developed and linked clearly to real-life situations. The course will cover a specified range of subjects and will be adapted to the specific needs of delegates.

Overall Objectives

• To explore personal effectiveness in interpersonal relationships
• To become more effective in:
• Influencing others and negotiating -in internal and external situations
• Bringing about change, where personal influencing is employed
• Dealing with conflict

Methods

There will be a series of tutor-led short inputs to develop the theories on which the numerous practical sessions will be based. There will also be a number of group working and individual working situations on challenging situations. Peer feedback which is tutor led will feature heavily in the course.

Topics will include:

• Sources of power in influencing others
• Assertive, aggressive and submissive behaviours
• Managing conflict between people
• Personal influencing audit
• Linking influencing style to the best modes of influences the client
• Consultantís role in influencing the change control process to achieve win-win
• Practice in consultant negotiation situations

The course is aimed primarily at senior consultants, but will be applicable to a wide range of participants, from Consultant to Manager
