MATCH v YORKSHIRE

  The match against the Yorkshire Vets at Pike Hills was halved 3 1/2  -  3 1/2.  It was a great relief to all the players to find the course bathed in sunshine, a far cry from the soaking at Silloth the previous week.

RUTH  LINDLEY  SELECTED  FOR  NORTH  TEAM

  Our Champion  Ruth has again been selected for the North Team to play in the Vets Jamboree at Bath.  The contest is between four teams, North, Midlands and South from England together with the Scottish Vets.  Three foursomes and six singles are played on each of three days and the winner is often not decided until the final afternoon.  The team will be captained by Adrienne Kay from Yorkshire who has herself played in the event many times. We wish her and all the players the very best of luck.

TWO  MATCH  RESULTS

   The Bronze and Silver teams both played matches this week, against Northumberland and Cumbria respectively.   The Bronze team were just edged out by 4 matches to 2 at Ponteland but the Silver team put up a dogged fight in absolutely foul weather to win their match against Cumbria at Silloth. Three matches were won, two halved and two lost to give a result of 4-3.  The next challenge for this team will be against Yorkshire at Pike Hills next week.
