Spain and the Costa Blanca

Spain is the country of sunshine and welcoming people, full of different customs and images, with a modern and well proven economy and political stability.

It sees over 50 million visitors a year and around 1 million foreigners have homes there including about half a million British families.

The Costa Blanca, situated on the East coast of Spain, with its cooling Mediterranean winds translates as 'The White Coast' and is where many of the Spanish themselves come on holiday.

Torrevieja ('Old Tower') has a long seafaring tradition. a privileged climate, excellent beaches with transparent waters and a modern infrastructure. It is a major attraction on the Mediterranean coastline.

The old fishing port still retains much of its original charm and character with its own harbour and fishing fleet and is proud that it does not cater for package holidays.

The beautiful town centre with its many palm trees and terrazzo promenade is adjacent to the fishing harbour and yachting marina. This is a 10 minute walk from our apartment.

There is plenty to do in Torreveija beside beach activities. Should you wish to take it nice and easy, you can just go for a stroll into town and wander through the marketplace selecting locally grown produce - and there is an amazing selection of fresh fish and shellfish.

Or you can take a walk along by the harbour stopping at one of the cafes for a coffee, drink or bite to eat. Most of the restaurants are open all year including around Christmas. We have a list of some of the good ones in the apartment.

For the young or young at heart, there are several very good discotheques in the town.

GOLF - the 'Villa Martin' club is about 5Km from the town. Green fees are paid daily.
