Dorchester

The County town of Dorset, the ancient monument of “Maiden Castle” is just outside the town. When the Romans where here it was called Durnovaria, while Thomas Hardy called it “Casterbridge” and made it the centre of Wessex.

It is a market town with modern shops blended in with the historic buildings of the area.
