Sheffield Hallem Univercity - city campus main enterence

Surrounded by seven hills (like Rome) this South Yorkshire city is at the confluence of the rivers Don and Sheaf. Sheffield Steel may be a much smaller industry today than it was a few decades ago, but it is still known throughout the world for quality.

Once the host to many large stores (which have now moved
out of town to Meadowhall) the Moor still has various shop, even if a lot of them are “bargain” and “clearance” outlets. Since pedestrianisation a street market has been held (top right).

The City Hall (not to be confused with the Town Hall, nearby) is a concert hall, and is used for the graduation ceremonies of the Hallam University (bottom right), which was the
Sheffield City Polytechnic when I graduated in 1989.

Orchard Square is a 1980’s shopping development (below) with a variety of shops, originally including a food court.
