Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

On the edge of the Peak district. I worked in Chesterfield from the summer of 1985 to the summer of 1986.

The town centre has recently undergone redevelopment.

The most well know building is the Parish Church, with its famous
Crooked Spire.

Rose Hill Council Head Quarters Chesterfield

Modern sculputer Royal Mail HQ Chesterfield

The council offices at Rose Hill, command an excellent view down the hill towards Queen’s Park (see Chesterfield Queen’s Park)

The “Slipper Baths” on the corner of Hipper Street were a reminder of when houses did not have bath rooms, and a visit to the municipal baths was the only alternative to the tin bath in the kitchen. They were demolished shortly after this picture was taken.

Modern Sculpture, love it or hate it, is on display outside the Royal Mail offices (near foot bridge to Queen’s Park).

The Gasometers on Chatsworth Road can be seen in the distance.

The well in the Market Square is “dressed” each September - following the Derbyshire tradition.
