MATCH REPORTS

7th August v Bottesford - Winterton Rangers Ladies faced Bottesford Ladies in a pre season friendly in which they came out triumphant with a 4-1 win. Winterton Rangers had a great start to the game with a strong positive side, it took only 20 minutes for Julie Ford’s shot on goal to hit the right hand corner of the net and take Rangers into the lead.
By now Winterton Rangers were dominating play and after been on the pitch a minute substitute Jess Kent had stretched the lead to 2-0 with a right footed shot past the keeper into the top right corner of the goal.
Winterton Rangers didn't get off to a great second half start as a one on one with Rangers keeper Kat North saw Bottesford make it 2-1 with a calmly placed goal. This however didn't deter Rangers who fought back with a second goal from Jess Kent followed by a sharp strike from Lucy Smith rebounding of a Bottesford player. The game ended 4-1 to Rangers and a well deserved win it was. Bottesford however played very well and counter attacked most of Rangers attempts on goal.

14th August v Sheriff Hutton - In their second pre-season friendly against Sheriff Hutton, Winterton Rangers were faced with only having a squad of 11 players and a poor match day pitch. Winterton Rangers had a bad start to the game and due to defensive errors Sheriff Hutton took the lead after 5 minutes.
To make matters worse central defender Helen Johnson had to be taken off due to a reoccurrence of a knee injury. This left Rangers down by a player and having to resort to borrowing a player from the opposition.
After tactical changes by Rangers manager at half time the team were looking more likely to score due to better shape and positive attitudes. On the 50th minute Amy Liddys strike from outside of the penalty box evaded the keeper and dribbled over the line, making the score line 1-1. Within minutes Rangers were 2-1 up after a poor clearance by Sheriff Hutton was taken advantage of by Vikki Taylor who volleyed the ball into the back of Hutton’s net.
Rangers continued to take advantage of their lead and straight from the kick off regained possession of the ball from Hutton. This resulted in a through ball to Lindsey Hughes who faced a one on one with Hutton’s keeper to put Rangers 3-1 ahead with a right footed strike. The game ended 3-1 to Rangers.

18th September Sporting Links Caistor 4 - Winterton Rangers 2
Winterton Rangers Ladies got their 2nd season in the Lincolnshire County Women’s League off to a flying start with a goal in the 3rd minute but ended up losing 4-2.
Winterton went on the attack straight from the kick off and after a couple of minutes pressure a shot from Jade Elston from 20yds beat the Caistor keeper to give them a great start to the season. Two minutes later Winterton could have been 2 up when a shot from Lindsay Hughes went just wide with Jess Kent only just failing to get a touch.
Ten minutes into the game Caistor equalised with their first attack when a shot from outside the area crept under the Rangers keeper.
Five minutes later Caistor went 2 up as the Rangers midfield went missing and Caistor broke through the middle to score. Jess Kent then had a shot saved by the Caistor keeper after good build up work down the Rangers right by Vikki Taylor and Lindsay Hughes.
Caistor scored a third on the stroke of halftime when a cross from the right was headed in with poor marking in the centre from Winterton.
The second half started with Caistor gaining a corner. This was crossed in and a shot was well saved by the feet of Kat North the Winterton keeper. Five minutes later Winterton again broke down the right and a cross from Lindsay Hughes was met by Carrie Hancock who forced a save from the Caistor keeper. Caistor then went down the other end of the pitch and Kat North pushed another shot from outside the box around the post. The corner was cleared but within minutes Caistor broke through the Winterton defence and a smothering save from Kat North prevented Caistor from scoring a fourth.
Winterton then took a hold on the game and had shots from Julie Ford and Vikki Taylor saved by the keeper. The pressure finally told when Emma Orchard forced the ball into the Caistor goal after following up a previous shot. 3 – 2 to Caistor and Winterton were pressurising for an equaliser, which nearly came when Lindsay Hughes was fouled in the Caistor penalty area. The referee pointed to the spot but unfortunately Lindsay Hughes had here penalty saved by the Caistor keeper. As Winterton pressed for the equaliser, Caistor broke down the right and the cross was met at the back post to put Caistor 4-2 up. Winterton still had time for one more shot from Jess Kent, which again was saved by the Caistor keeper.
Julie Ford the Winterton captain was voted man of the match.
