Reports
from County and District Councillors
The length of time taken up at meetings with these reports was considered to be excessive.
It was resolved that Shifnal County and District Councillors be requested to e-mail any reports that they wished to submit. The reports would then be copied and circulated to members.
Cllr. J L Jones reported that at Bridgnorth Didstrict Council’s Development Control Committee, the recommendations by Shifnal Town Council had been agreed.
Cllr. T D Jones reported that new windows at Greenfields and Meadow Drive were being installed.
The new wheelie bins were to be delivered in February and would be in use in March.
Shropshire County Council were proposing to increase Council Tax by 4.5% and BDC by 4.9%. The Police and Fire Services were each likely to require an increase in excess of 10%.
Questions to County
and District Councillors
It was agreed that questions should be kept brief, relate to Shifnal and not be duplicated.
Councillors discussed the following:
Inaccurate reporting on council tax increases by Shropshire Radio.
The emptying and provision of wheelie bins, re-cycling and the proposed two week emptying system.
The proposed council tax increases by the Police.

Councillors approved the reviewed Cemetery charges
It was agreed to accept a donation of £300 from the Shifnal Society towards the cost of a new bench in Tudor Way.
Complaints have been received by members about the dumping of waste and blocked drainage ditches in Lamledge Lane. BDC and Shropshire County Council to be contacted.
It was reported that BDC requires a
financial contribution from Parish / Town Councils in support of all amenity
grant applications.
Play Areas
A boot cleaner is to be installed shortly on Wheatfield Drive Play Area by Shifnal Europeans. It was agreed that the Football Club could display temporary signs on match days.
A number of children had responded to the questionnaire on Play Areas - results at the February meeting.
It was noted that the Disabled Discrimination Act would need to be implemented in relation to all playgrounds.
Cemetery
Quotations for the removal of mud and improving the surface of the car park have been requested.
It was agreed that the Citizen’s
Award Scheme would be operated on a quarterly basis. All nominations should be
made through a Town Councillor and nominations will then be considered by the
