MUSIC AND THE ARTS

Alexander started out as an actor and devised the technique when the habitual way of using himself began to affect his performance. These days the Alexander Technique is widely used in the performing arts and many music colleges and drama schools employ an Alexander teacher.
I worked as an AT teacher in the music Dept. at Exeter University giving individual lessons to the students and some staff. Sometimes the main aim was to improve performance. At others it was overcoming painful difficulties often relating to tension. I now continue to see singers and musicians privately.

"Learning the Alexander Technique with Roger has made a terrific difference. My posture is more upright and I have gained a self awareness which has meant that I can avoid strain and tension in my neck and upper back. Since then I have not needed any more chiropractic treatment."
