WILL of
THOMAS CROMPTON
of Bridlington Gentleman

Gives to his Grandson Thomas Crompton my silver cup also Bedstead & Curtains.

Gives to his Grandson John Crompton a silver cup & oak chest.

Gives to his Grandson Wm. Crompton ½ doz silver tea spoons & marked with a ship & letters W.C.

Gives all my ready money & all my plate marked M.C. & the residue of household furniture unto my dear wife Mary Crompton.

Gives a close of land called Penfold to my grandson Richardson Crompton his heirs & assigns for ever.

Gives his two houses situate in the Bail in Bridlington unto my wife & on her decease or marriage same to go to my Daur Mary Crompton but in case my Daur be then dead then I give the same to my granddaughters Elizabeth & Mary Crompton.

Gives £500 unto my wife & Wm. Johnson of Bridlington Grocer to be invested & the proceeds thereof to be paid to my wife for the maintenance of my daur Mary Crompton and on her attaining 21 said sum of £500 to be paid unto my daur but if my daur die same to be divided equally between the daurs of my son Thomas Richardson Crompton.

Residue unto Wm. Johnson and Wm. Smith of Bridlington comprising premises at Bridlington & Nafferton Upon Trust after payment of just debts for my son Thomas Richardson Crompton & Martha his wife until the 21 Dec 1832 then for my grandson Thomas Crompton & after his decease In trust for his Son but if he shall not have a Son then for my grandson James Crompton & his son but if he shall not have a son then to John Crompton & his son but if he shall not have a son then to my own right heirs for ever.

Direct trustees to raise £300 on lands at Nafferton & to pay interest arising there from to my grandsons James & Wm. Crompton.

Gives an annuity of £40 to Martha Crompton wife of my said son Thos. Richardson Crompton.

Guardian of my sd daur said Wife & said Wm. Johnson

Executors the said Wm. Johnson & James Smith

Appoints Michael Hardy of Bridlington Farmer Executor to go with Wm. Johnson & Jas. Smith

Probate granted at York 28 Nov 1823 to the Executors.

And also a Codicil thereto annexed bearing date fifteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and twenty two
Of and concerning All the closes, lands, grounds, tenements, hereditaments, and real estate which the said Thomas Crompton died seized or possessed of situate at Bridlington aforesaid and at Nafferton and elsewhere in the said County of York:-
which said WILL is witnessed by William Smith of Bridlington aforesaid Attorney at Law,
William Carter of the same place Yeoman and John Warley of the same place Tailor:-
and which said codicil witnessed by John Nightingale of Bridlington aforesaid Common Brewer, William Woodstock of the same place servant of the said John Nightingale.

This memorial is required to be registered by me William Johnson of Bridlington aforesaid Grocer one of the Devisees in trust in the said WILL mentioned.

As witness by hand and seal this eighteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and twenty three.
