On the right track     top

with Katz Keely vocals, Bryan Day guitar & vocals, Simon Stafford keys, trombone and backing vocals, Johnnie Wood double bass, Rob Skeet baritone and tenor sax and clarinet, Phil Johnson drums

12 tracks from our area's premier swing jive band. The Cd sounds like they're having a party in the studio and it gives a good impression of the good vibe atmosphere these guys create where ever they play. Some classic swing tracks such as Jumping Jive and Is you is? plus some new originals.

Rosie Brown

Now is the Time     top

with Jez Franks guitar, Dave Walsh drums, Dan Snape piano, Riaan Vosloo double bass.

10 tracks on this her second recording with a fresh contemporary sound. Guitarist Jez Franks and Pianist Dan Snape - visiting from USA, share the accompanists role. Jez and Rosie feature on a number of duo arrangements. Dan contributes some heavy weight arrangements - Caravan and Love for Sale, playing Fender Rhodes. More than ably supported by the rhythm section of Riaan and Dave. More details at her web site.

The Boston Tea Party

Boston Tea Party 2     top

with Jonny Boston tenor saxophone, vocals, James Evans clarinet, Tom Kincaid piano, Gar Tim Dawes double bass, Matt Home drums.

12 tracks of mainly original tunes written by Jonny & James. Excellent recording made at Hall Place Studios catches the band at their finest. Some great original tunes covering a diverse range of styles. The most striking impression is the exceptional togetherness of their playing and solos. Pianist Tom has a feature on his own uptempo tune 'Tom's Finger'. Matt Home gets a feature on 'Finder's Keepers' - a catchy tune from Jonny in 5/4 time. Live soundclips at their web site

Ella Rooke

Scenes that I’ve read     top

with Ella Rooke vocals, Sam Dunn guitar, Johnny Thompson piano, Garry Jackson, Damien Cook tenor sax and flute, Nick Smalley percussion.

Delightful collection of jazz standards from up-and-coming Leeds based singer. In tone and phrasing Ella sounds remarkably like Stacey Kent. Excellent support from the band of LCM students / graduates. Wonderful bass / vocal feature with Garry and Ella on first track ‘If I were a bell’. Sympathetic ‘live’ sound recording production from the Woodman Studio team.

Derrick Harris Quartet

things we say     top

with Derrick Harris guitar, Bryan Layton piano, Barry Rickarby bass guitar, Guy Rickarby drums.

Impressive collection of 11 original compositions from Derrick. Recorded as a showcase for Derricks writing and for securing some live gigs. The overall style and feel is melodic, and lightly funky – (think of Spyrogyra, Mezzoforte). These tracks would sound great on radio. Excellent contributions from Bryan Layton and the son & father drum & bass team of Barry and Guy Rickarby.

Another fine production from Jill and Jerry at Woodman Studios.
