Personal Specification for VT
Listed below are the basic personal criteria that need to be satisfied prior
to application.
Education
- Must be eligible to undertake VT and has a fully registerable
qualification
- Must be able to provide details of university of graduation, degree and
nationality
- Must be either:
- UK National
- EEA National (EU country passport holder)
- An Overseas National (not UK or EEA) with a work permit and leave to
remain in the UK which is current/spans VT year (or on HSMP visa)
Good Communication Skills
- Able to talk/hold conversation clearly and distinctly
- Able to communicate with trainer/staff/patients and public professionally
- Good command of English
- Able to explain treatment/treatment plans
Appearance/Attitude
- Smart/Appropriate clinical attire
- Clean appearance
- Professional and ethical
- Has passion for dentistry and willingness to learn
- Has interests outside dentistry
Able to work within a team
- Good interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic
- Tactful
- Flexible
- Able to motivate and can be motivated
- Can adapt to change
- Respects views of others
Clinical Skills
- Basic Dental Degree essential
- Been awarded or nominated for prizes (desirable)
- Can identify own strengths and weakness
- Can identify areas of knowledge/clinical skills where further help is
required
- Referees provide positive reference
Personal Motivation
- Able to manage themselves
- Good time-keeping
- Able to start on 1st August 2008
- Able to make travel arrangements and attend surgery 8.45am to 5.00pm
Mon-Thurs
- Able to attend Postgraduate Study Days/Practice (if not scheduled)
- Will not take holiday/absence from study day within term times.
Ambition/Future Plans
- Interest in post graduate development
- Interest in further qualifications
