Ceramic Onlays
Onlays are used when a cavity is too large to be restored with a silver or composite filling yet not severe enough to necessitate crowning. The tooth preparation for a ceramic onlay preserves as much of the tooth structure as possible, but allows coverage of the biting surface of the tooth for protection against fracture. The ceramic onlay is custom crafted from porcelain by a dental technician and is bonded into the tooth by the dentist. The result is a strong, long lasting restoration which restores the tooth to its original beauty.
