Michael takes the biscuit...
...and the cake!

Studios in late November '99, Michael Omer is getting into the character
of "Victoria Sponge", who does the birthday slot twice daily every
weekday. This segment has become the most popular of the entire PLAYHOUSE
DISNEY package, contributing its part to the staggering
135% + increase in audience share since launch
in September 1999!!
The intention was for "If today is your Birthday"
to become as popular as that other 'trad' birthday song.....and it has been
a runaway success! His performance singing his own music and lyrics can
be heard every day! Michael's tones can also be heard singing that wonderful
new classic(!) "Mitzi is an Ovenglove" elsewhere on Disney Channel!
("String quartets will have to wait..." muses Michael)
EARLIER DISNEY NEWS:
FURTHER WORK for Disney Channel follows the highly
successful and much aired series BITE SIZE (see below). Major shooting was
completed in August 1999 at Leavesden Studios. This included brand new songs
by Michael Omer, specially written for this new programming concept, which
was devised by in-house Disney producer Andrew
Beecham .
In DISNEY
CHANNEL's September 1st launch, a whole
new packaging of the output was announced, involving in-vision presenters
in the stunning custom built Disneyland-style set at Leavesden studios.
In addition, the new programme strands MUSIC TIME, ART PLAY and CIRCLE TIME also to be seen
within the new line-up, have music specially written and recorded by Michael
Omer.
We were also pleased to welcome DISNEY producer
Andrew Beecham in July, to record the new versions of classic
Disney favourite songs, performed by Dave Benson Phillips, which each became
stand-alone films for the MUSIC TIME slot.
Using exclusively available recordings from the
Walt Disney Company archive, many from the original movie soundtracks, these
have already become hugely popular with viewers.

Music for an animated titles sequence, and songs for the series.
Cast recording sessions took place at the MUSIC TO PICTURE COMPANY studio
in Hampstead, London last November.
The series now airs twice daily on DISNEY
CHANNEL.
Michael also contributed the lead vocal to one of four new songs.
[In fact he wrote and produced all the music for these special inserts.]
It sports a slow swing 'Henri Mancini' type arrangement.....not to be missed!
In all FIFTY-TWO programmes were produced for stripping through
the week. New shows are currently in production(2003).
