JOB  DESCRIPTION:  

• To create Finite Element Models of Aircraft components within customer specific modelling philosophies through generation of geometry, mesh and co-ordinate frames
• To apply appropriate boundary and loading conditions, including multiple loadcases.
• To display results in the required format and output selected results to spreadsheet.
• Ability to use Patran Command Language.
• Strong understanding of element forms and functions, including rigid elements.
• Ability to interpret results from output file including error messages.
• To perform Linear Static and Non-Linear analysis.
• Understand Composite lay-ups and generate A,B & D matrix.

Analysis

• Interpretation of F.E. output.
• Load path visualisation and load generation.
• Knowledge of fasteners, joints & fittings
• Panel & Membrane analysis
• Beams & Columns
• Material failure theories including derivation of material properties
• Production of strength summary's etc.

General Requirements

• Applicants should have a sound background in Aerospace with a good understanding of metallic structures, load paths, failure modes, typical materials and fastener types etc.
• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar subject.
• PC literate – MS Office, ability to use Excel macro's an advantage.
• Comfortable with PC mainframe emulators (Vax, IBM etc), moving data around.

Reporting

• Excellent PC skills
• Familiar with Mathcad software.
• Knowledge of Quality procedures
