Luckley Wood is run by Melyn Robinson  and Liz Every and is based in the U.K.

Luckley Wood is a real  place. It is a small piece of woodland in Wokingham  a town in Royal Berkshire, England and it gives its name to our road and our business name. The leaves featuring  in our heading are taken from a photograph of  Luckley Wood.

Melyn Robinson, who was born in Connecticut, USA and who designs our dolls  has lived  in Luckley Wood since 1979, soon after she married her British husband. After the birth of her two daughters she began a hobby - quilting and patchwork - which has taken over her life and won her many awards. She is a member of the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles and has written articles for British quilting magazines. Her designs are a combination of her American ancestry and English  influences. This is particularly evident in her use of colour.

Liz Every  also has two daughters and  has  lived in  Luckley Wood for many years. She has worked with Melyn on various projects  over the years. It was her idea to persuade Melyn to share her wonderful cloth doll designs with  a wider  public following their successful introduction at a local workshop  aimed at  guild members looking for a quick and easy  design to make for local charity events. The only problem has been that each doll  seems to have a personality  of its own and no one wants to give them up when they have finished making them. She is currently  trying to persuade Melyn to come up with some more designs and hopes to keep adding to the collection  We always welcome your comments and ideas - by email please.

Melyn has written an article on the Holly Imp for this years Christmas edition of Patchwork and Quilting Magazine (December ‘06). The  doll  featured on the magazine’s stand at the Festival of Quilts Exhibition 2006 at the National  Exhibition Centre in Birmingham UK and at the Knitting and Stitching Show 2006 at Alexandra Palace, London
