12   St Andrews church
For 900 years there has been a church on this site.  Over the centuries several restorations and additions have been made including the beautiful east window. Most of the buildings represented on the panel are within walking distance of the church.

13.  Weavers Yard
The building in Weavers Yard dates to the early 14th century.  In the 18th century the first weaving looms in Sedbergh were set up there . The side of the shop has 13 filled-in windows, the top ones of which provided light for hand-loom weavers.

14.  Spinning gallery, Railton Yard
up the side of Lupton House on Back Lane.
For centuries Sedbergh's wealth came from the wool trade. The wooden spinning gallery in Railton Yard is the last surviving one in Sedbergh. The galleries gave the spinners sufficient light to work by and shelter from the weather.

15.   Bonnie Prince Charlie hiding in the cart
The external chimney breast at the back of  No. 41 Main Street can be seen in Weavers Yard. Local legend has it that Bonnie Prince Charlie hid in this chimney before escaping in disguise with the pack horses that were carrying woollen goods produced in the yard.

16.   Settlebeck High School
The former headmaster's house is now part of the school building. The monkey puzzle tree in the rear garden is used as an emblem by the school.

17.   Romany caravan
Many colourful horse drawn caravans pass through Sedbergh on their way to and from the annual Appleby horse fair spending the night on roadside verges.

18. New Bridge carries the Hawes Road over the river Rawthey with footpaths to Millthrop and Straight Bridge on each side.  Birds include:  sand martin, goosander, heron, common sandpiper, kingfisher, mallard and dipper.  This piece and the Cloisters was worked by four people.

19   Pinfold  is an enclosure in which stray livestock was officially detained until their owner paid a fine.  When it was in use the wall would have been much higher than it is today.  The name derives from the old English 'pynd fald' meaning a pound and fold.  Pinfold caravan site is by the side of the river Rawthey near New Bridge.
