7   The White Hart Sports and Social Club
These premises were once known as The Bull and Dogs but in the early part of the 20th century they became known as The White Hart Hotel. In the 1970s the British Legion Club bought the building but in 1986 the name was changed to the present title.

8  The old vicarage can be seen from the footpath at the rear of Settlebeck Primary School. It was probably built in the 17th century although it is thought that a fortified building existed here in medieval times. Note the 17th century cylindrical chimneys

9  The Reading Room,
with the Market House beneath it, was built in 1858.  The building was given by the Rev J H Evans, the Master of the Grammar School, for the use of the inhabitants of Sedbergh.  In 2002 the whole building was converted into a public library.

10  The Grammar School,
now Sedbergh School's library, on the corner of Back Lane and Finkle Street. Sedbergh's public school was founded in 1525 by Roger Lupton. The library building dates to 1716 and originally housed the school classrooms

11 George Fox and the market square.
George Fox, whose teachings led to the formation of the Quakers, came to Sedbergh in 1652 where he preached beneath a yew tree in the churchyard. The top of the market cross is now in the garden of the Quaker Meeting House at Brigflatts.
