Trumpet 2: ANDY GREENWOOD Chirpy former lead trumpet Syd Lawrence Orchestra and NYJO. Much in demand for television work like Strictly Dance Fever as he has absolutely no nerves. Admires Bobby Shew , Wayne Bergeron and unpleasantly large motorbikes!
Trumpet 3: MARK WHITE Former lead trumpet Syd Lawrence Orchestra ( under Syd himself… EEK! ) and 10 years as soloist with the BBC Big Band. Top theatre player currently in the show Guys and Dolls. Would secretly prefer to have been a northern comic!
Trumpet 4: PAT WHITE Rather controversially, not a former lead trumpet Syd Lawrence Orchestra! However….
lead trumpet with the awesome Laurence Cottle Big Band. Soloist with Stan Tracey and John Dankworth Orchestras and top studio and theatre player.
Trombone 1: GORDON CAMPBELL Over 20 Years as lead trombone with BBC Big Band. Laurie Holloway Orchestra
( Michael Parkinson Show )/ Robert Farnon / Barbra Streisand/ Robbie Williams etc. etc. Much loved figure and unquestionably the country’s top lead trombonist. He also leads his own big band, teaches at Eton and has every recording ever made by Tommy Dorsey!
Trombone 2: ANDY WOOD Soloist with the BBC Big Band, John Wilson and Laurie Holloway Orchestras. Extraordinarily protean musician who can play great jazz BASS trombone! Often works with the Woody Herman Band on their trips to Europe. Top studio musician. Urbie Green collector.
Trombone 3: MIKE FELTHAM Very secretive cove but we do know that he is ex Syd Lawrence and NYJO. Often works with the BBC Big Band.
Trombone 4: ADRIAN HALLOWELL Ex Robbie Williams Big Band and top theatre and studio player currently in the show Mary Poppins ( as a dancer! …. just kidding ). Stan Kenton fan.
Piano: JAMES PEARSON Incredibly talented musician who is rapidly becoming the new “house pianist” at Ronnie Scotts jazz club. Pipe-smoker, recording artist and ex-Syd Lawrence he has now established a solid reputation for not returning phone calls!
Guitar: PHIL LEE Moves around silently like a ghost but has been one of this country’s top jazz musicians for many years. Actually played with Benny Goodman!!
Bass: TOM MARK Marvellous young musician who has made a big impact since he moved to London a couple of years ago. Obviously has absolutely no responsibilities as he has just got back from a holiday in Hawaii and is now off again for a month in Australia!! Currently in the show The Rat Pack…. vacations permitting, naturally.
Drums: MATT SKELTON An absolute authority on the history of big band drumming and one of the most exciting ( and busiest ) drummers on the jazz scene today. Long time associate of John Wilson and a most welcome addition to any big band!
Vocals: LOUISE COOKMAN Simply in a class of her own as a band singer. Ex-Piccadilly Dance Orchestra and currently with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. Has sung with the BBC Big Band and is a founder member of the Solid Senders Orchestra. Not only sounds the part but also looks it too. A national treasure!
