Inter Region Cup 2004/05 Under 14 and 19 age group reach Finals on Sunday 19th June Under 14's
The Under 14's played in what SYFA President Jim Cameron described as the most exciting game of the day. Western took the lead in just 4 minutes when Steven Davies scored with a low drive, Edinburgh equalised shortly after that from a free kick and then Jordan McIntosh put Western back in the lead with a tremendous lob from about 30 yards, Western further increased their lead when Liam Shanley scored a double, first an acrobatic overhead kick and then snatching on a rebound in the box. Just before half time Edinburgh came back into the game when the broke behind the Western defence and chipped the keeper, again just after half time Edinburgh struck back when they broke from midfield and a low drive deceived the keeper. Edinburgh drew level when they were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes to go. They then increased the lead when with 10 minutes to go they pressed the Western defence and the ball was headed in over the defence to a lone striker who finished from close range. Just when it looked all over Western were awarded a free kick in the dying minutes and Kenny Marshall took the free kick and slotted it home under the diving keeper to make it 5-5. The game went to penalties and despite Steven Davies and Martin Hart scoring Western lost out 4-2 on penalties
Under 19's
The Under 19's played Lanark in the Final and won 4-0 with with a Hat Trick from Martin McAteer and and a solo goal from Robbie Burns. his was a good result for Western as in the last Lanark had won 2-1 and Western had put in a lot of hard work through training and in recent games to build up the Squad In addition this shows the depth of strength in the Region when both Finalists from the Scottish Cup were from the Western Region. here SYFA President presents the Trophy to Regional Captain Chris Agnew
