When Sarah married John Riches she was described as a spinster

however she was believed to have been previously married to a George Pool, however there is no record of a marriage, divorce or a death of George Poole.  

 
   
Sarah gave George Poole as the name of the father of George Robinson Riches Poole on his birth certificate and GP was described as a policeman

GRRP's birth on 9th May 1842 was registered  by his grandmother Mary Poole and the family was living at No1 Johnson Street, St Paul's in the Parish of St George London

  
   
Sarah's  maiden name was given as Poole (on GRRP's birth certificate) and at the time of her marriages her "Rank or Profession" was given as a staymaker (eg ladies corsets)

When Sarah married Edward Prior in 1855 she was 31 and by then was described as a widow

Sarah parents were William and Mary Pool - Her father gave his occupation as a farmer when she married Edward Prior in 1855

Each time Sarah married, young George adopted her husbands surname as his own.
