This is the exclusive site of the NORTHWOOD BRANCH (arguably the best Branch) of the Jewish Association of Cultural Societies known as "JACS". The organisation was founded in 1978 as the brainchild of Annette Pearlman. A small working committee was set up and agreement was obtained from Stanmore Synagogue to hold weekly meetings at it's premises.

An executive committee was formed headed by the late Annette Pearlman as Chairman and the late Rev. Saul Amias as President. Mr Louis Goodman was invited to chair and form a committee at Stanmore and to sit on the executive. Mrs Bell Myers was then appointed Secretary to the executive. The Stanmore Branch was inaugurated in May 1978. The aims and objectives of the JACS organisation were to provide weekly meetings for the active retired and semi retired professional and business person.

In 1978 a new organisation was formed for the active retired and semi-retired. Doubters said that it would never get off the ground. Now it is one of the largest organisations within the Jewish Community.   And what of the future? We offer a challenge to the next generation of newly retired to come forward and carry on where we leave off, to expand our organisation and it's activities and to carry it forward to the 50th. Anniversary, interested? then come and visit us.

THERE ARE 22 BRANCHES COUNTRYWIDE AND APPROXIMATELY 2,000 MEMBERS AT THE LAST COUNT.
