A new update is now available. This one has GeForce FX support (the last kernel had this, too, but it was somewhat unreliable so I didn't document it) and some tweaks to the IDE drivers to prevent corruption when running older drives in UDMA mode.

Correct support for GeForce 3 cards is also now present -- in the last kernel I managed to screw up GF3 support while working on the GF4 code. Feedback on any nVidia cards that don't work with this kernel is appreciated. All of them should work, but I may have overlooked something.

The Gnu Public License (GPL) which covers Amithlon's kernel requires that source code be made available for any binaries; you may have noticed that I've not put my sources up for download. This is due to insufficent web space and a really slow dial-up connection. I'm trying to resolve this problem, and in the meantime I'm looking into providing code diffs as a stop-gap. This isn't a high priority as I've only had one request for the source, but it will be done as soon as I have the time.

One final note. I'm trying to piece together a definative Amithlon hardware guide and FAQ (both are linked to the left) so I'd appreciate help in confirming what hardware really works and in collecting information for the FAQ.

Yet another update. This time a special test kernel.

New in this is update is full hardware-accelerated support for GeForce 4 cards. I've tested it with GF4 Titanium cards but GF4 MXs should also work, as should GF4 Go laptop chips. Known bug: MUI applications sometimes show small rendering errors when drawing title-bar gadgets. Feedback on this is appreciated.

Note that this kernel will not work on nVidia cards other than the GeForce4. It's just been slapped together to test how well GF4 support works.

If you have a GF4 and the kernel fails to work, please send me a mail showing what horizontal scan rate your monitor is putting out when the boing ball animation should be showing (most monitors will show this via the on-screen menu). Thanks.

Got the newer sources (thanks Neil) so this kernel is built around the 2.4.19 kernel and thus has hardware blitting support. NForce2 stuff has been hacked about again (and probably still won't work -- I wish I had an NF2 motherboard to test with), minor tweaks to the 8235 driver, and it's been compiled with Athlon/Duron optimisations.
