Songbirds - The First Ladies of Irish Song is a series of music documentaries presented by singer Fil Campbell which celebrates the lives and music of 5 women from very different areas of Irish music who sang the songs that everyone knew, became internationally famous for doing that, and paved the way for generations of Irish singers to follow them.

Songbirds was first broadcast on RTE 1 (Sky Digital Channel 175 )for 6 weeks from 20th Nov 2005
and repeated in September / October 2006

With archive footage, contributions from well respected Irish singers and musicians and interviews with family members and folklorists. In each programme Fil also performs some songs from each of the women's catalogue.
