Research Interests

My area of specialisation is in quantitative development economics. The primary theme of my research is the impact of trade liberalisation on poverty.
I have been working on the empirical analysis of how trade reforms have contributed to poverty reduction in Malawi
I am also interested in the analysis of how households respond to price shocks particularly in the agricultural sector. In the future I am interested in developing a farm household model that analyzes behavior in the face of producer, consumer and labor supply shocks.

The Characteristics and Determinants of Household Demand for Credit in Malawi are explained in my MSc thesis, entitled: DETERMINANTS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF HOUSEHOLD DEMAND FOR SMALLHOLDER CREDIT IN MALAWI

I also did some work for CONGOMA in November 2001 with Gilbert Mkamanga
