From December 1969 to May 1970, Agronomist at Central Research Station, Ilonga. Carrying out fertilizer, spacing, herbicide, varietal and cultural trials on many crops including maize, cotton, rice, tobacco and senna.

From February 1968 to December 1969, Extension Officer in Morogoro Regional Office. Worked with small farmers and encouraging pig production for the Zambian market. Advised ethnic Asian farmers with large semi-mechanized farms growing mainly cotton, sorghum and maize. Carried out wheat trials on the Mahenge plateau.
