Implementation and testing of the concept of participatory integrated water management at the district level. Advising on the distribution and water allocation questions at regional and local level, use of drainage water for irrigation, water related environmental issues and relevant economic aspects. On-the-job training. Promotion of irrigation/drainage water quality and quality monitoring and reporting.
Assisting with the improvement of on-farm water management in three irrigation command areas with a total net area of about 248,000 feddans in Lower Egypt. Assisting the Irrigation Advisory Service with the establishment of demonstration plots in 50 farms within selected watercourses (mesqas). Proven technologies demonstrate improved agricultural production and water use efficiency. The project contributes towards costs of land levelling, soil amendment and production inputs, irrigation management and laboratory equipment.
Responsible for carrying out feasibility studies of irrigated agricultural projects in the new lands and giving on the job training to counterpart staff.
