| David Parsons studied at the Royal College of Music as a pupil of Diana Poulton. Following a successful Wigmore Hall debut in 1981 he has toured widely in Europe, Scandanavia and the USA. He has broadcast in London, Los Angeles, Oslo, and Munich and presented a recital of Lute music for Spanish Television. He has recorded as a soloist, accompanist and continuo player working with ensembles including the Consorte of Musicke (with Emma Kirkby).The Musicians of the Globe, Glydbourne Opera and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. His release of lute music from Robert Dowland's "Varietie of Lute Lessons" on the metronome label has been closely followed by a recording of 18th century German "galant" chamber music by Falkenhagen and Hagen for ASV-Gaudeamus. In 2003 the same company will release a programme of songs and guitar music by Fernando Sor. David Parsons plays an 1843 Panormo Guitar and he is joined by the soprano Evelyn Tubb. His recent concert engagements have included The Holland Early Music Festival, and the Festival Dag Oude Muziek. Belgium. He has also performed as a soloist in France and Spain in addition to UK festival appearences with his early classical trio 'The Haydn Lute Trio '. |
