The Windfarm off Walney is well under way, the bases for many of the windmills have been driven in by a jack-up ship, there is a floating crane in the bay now.
Please let me havemore photos as the work progresses if you are sailing near the site
These were sent by Arnold Price (Columbus) who was around that site with 'Columbus'
during the middle of July, there were ten bases already sited and they were
working on the eleventh, pictured. The fishing boats proximity gives some idea
of the scale of things out there.

The distance from that particular location to Fleetwood RoRo
was eleven miles, it being some four miles or so from Piel moorings. The day
was wonderful from the point of view of sunshine, it was even warm enough for
a swim on the way back to Fleetwood and a more expedient way of returning there,
as there was not the slightest breath of wind. As the tide had just started
to flood, it was a very pleasant drift all the way into the Wyre channel where
a light breeze kicked in and enabled a sail right to the end of the Tigers Tale
as the gates were opening. With a passage time of six hours from the wind farm,
probably not the fastest recorded time but one of the more enjoyable ones.
Hope you find the photos, of which there are many more, to your
liking.
Kindest regards,
Arnold Price (Columbus)
The Cable laying ship is also at work in the bay at the present time, (August 15th) it must all be costing a fortune!
