Unfortunately, some garden centres tend to only have limited ranges of goods and plants for allotments. In season, bargains are available at some stores. Try Lidle, Savacenter, Woolworths, B & Q, Homebase, Asda, Tesco.
Double check that fruit trees varieties are suitable for the West of Scotland, before you buy them, as many varieties on sale in Scotland, are not suitable for our climate.
The Borders Organic Gardening Society Potato Day, is usually held on the first Sunday in March, at the Borders College in Galashiels. For date and time, see the Local Groups Section at www.gardenorganic.org.uk They have a huge selection of potato varieties, over 100!, sold by the tuber.

Garden Organic, (previously known as HDRA), a registered charity, is at www.gardenorganic.org.uk and has useful information for organic gardening methods. Their seed bank of varieties, no longer commercially available, contains many interesting varieties such as red flowered broad beans, purple poded peas etc.
