SOFT FRUIT  does well in this area. For a longer cropping season, grow  suitable varieties to achieve this, e.g., Autumn raspberries, perpetual strawberries, as well as the usual varieties.
Do try black currants, red currants, white currants, gooseberries (all good for jams, jelly, ice cream). Jostaberries (currant/gooseberry cross) are better than the Worsterberry. Try Blueberries and Cranberries, which need an acid soil.
STONE FRUITS Choose self fertile varieties of cherries and plums and save  yourself a lot of trouble in trying to plant suitable varieties for pollination.
APPLES need great care in choosing hardy, disease resistant varieties, and suitable pollinators. A few are self fertile. Canker may eat right through branches. Keep soil well drained, lightly limed, and no nitrogenous fertiliser. Cut out canker.
Only try pears, figs, peaches, nectarines in sheltered position or in Greenhouse.

Apples Reputed to be Resistant to Canker Discovery, Falstaff,  (Please advise me of any other varieties that you know from personal knowledge, do well and resist Canker in the Glasgow Area.)
Avoid these Apples as reputed to be prone to Canker Elstar, Fiesta, Gala, James Grieve, Cox, Laxtons Fortune, Golden Noble, Jonagold, Spartan, Worcester Pearmain, Ribston Pippin, Lanes Prince Albert, Sunset, Suntan,
