A 10 week course for Parents and Adults involved with children, covering practical ways of being effective in everyday situations with children, with love, respect, firmness and clarity.

Aim
To increase the pleasure and joy of being with children. Learning skills in listening, communicating and relating

To encourage the best in children, helping them to develop self responsibility, co-operation, consideration and self esteem

Outline
Each session lasts 2 hours, focusing on a particular topic and includes large and small group interaction.

Incorporating practise in developing practical skills and greater understanding, for handling conflict with young people and creating more satisfying relationships

  • Understanding the needs within the unacceptable behaviour
  • Having more choices about how we react
  • Describing, informing and encouraging children (instead of using unhelpful labelling)
  • Helping children solve their own problems
  • Gaining co-operation and challenging unacceptable and unuseful behaviour
  • Setting limits, clearly and firmly
  • Acknowledging
  • Recognising, Appreciating (rather than criticising)
