Buncton Chapel, approached down
through a wooded ravine and up again, dates back between 1150 - 1180 A.D.
although there are records of the land being granted to the church as far
back as 791 A.D. Services are still held here, usually only on the third
Sunday of the month as well as Christmas Day and Easter Day. There were
some interesting
stone carvings
in the Chapel.

Chanctonbury Traditional Sussex Beef |
|
Great Barn Farm runs a herd of
Pedigree Sussex beef cows. The calves are born outside, usually in the
spring, and after spending eight months with their mothers they are
wintered indoors. At about a year old they are turned out and spend the
next eighteen months outdoors.
After slaughtering the meat is hung for three weeks, to enhance the texture, before jointing and freezing. This, along with the naturally good flavour, gives a superior quality beef for you to enjoy. Great Barn Farm will soon have full organic status. If you would like to buy your meat direct from Great Barn Farm's freezers please telephone 01903 813270 |

The
"Lion's Mouth" Fountain
This fountain at Stocks Hill, in Spithandle Lane, is constructed of old stone with a newer medallion of Queen Victoria attached to the side and is fed from a spring near Buncton Chapel. Repairing the fountain was Wiston's "Millenium Project" because water had not been flowing for several years. |
