All about me! |
|
I am originally from France, but have lived in the UK since 1991. After receiving a broad training in North- and West-African as well as Latin American rhythms by percussionist Guem in Paris 25 years ago, I focused on traditional West-African music, studying with the djembe masters Adama Drame, Aboubacar Keďta in France, and Nansady Keďta in the UK. I have also travelled to West Africa to learn about their culture and rhythms. In 1997, I joined the African percussion group Oru Drummers and later Ayawara and embarked on the magnificent journey of traditional West African music. Since then I have performed and taught percussion with these groups, as well by myself. For the last 3 years I have also provided the music for Erick Mauricia's West-African Dance Classes at the “Dance House” and the Govan Community projects. A recent highlight in my musical career has been to become a member of Nansady Keďta’s music ensemble Funkama. I am a fully qualified primary teacher and currently work part-time at a primary school. I have experience in working with a wide range of ages and abilities, including people with disabilities. I have Disclosure Scotland clearance and am insured with 'The Musician Union'.
