Training in Tenerife

bulletTenerife (still) mountainous! - three time up the mountain, 575 miles, one week!

I've just returned from Tenerife. This year I went with Phil "Cheeky" Evans, Mark "Big-ring" Lovett, Mark "Skuller" Burton and Michael "Edam" Jolly. The aim of the week was some big hours of road biking and to gain the necessary stripy tan required for the early season races.

This year it was my first warm weather training of the year. This time last year I had already been to Lanzarote and Majorca.  Last year was Commonwealth Games year and a strong start to the year was required. I'm looking for a slower start this year and stronger end of year.

For those that know Tenerife this is where we went (I've not mentioned the cafe stops).  Mark Burton had been with Nick Craig to the island and he said we were not stopping as often.....so it must be alright!

Tue         38 miles      Los Gigantes and up and back.

Wed        108 miles    Vilaflor - mtn - observatory - Guimar - back

Thur        83 miles      Masca - Buenavista - Tanque - back

Fri          80 miles      Chio - mtn - Vilaflor - Grandillia - airport - back

Sat         111 miles      same as Wednesday backwards

Sun        72 miles      Vilaflor - mtn - Arguyo - Tamino - Alcala - back

Mon       82 miles      Masca backwards (Icod - Buenavista - Masca - Alcala)

We saw German Telecom team training on the island, they were staying on the top of the mountain and seaming to be riding very slowly!
