Training in Tenerife |

| Tenerife mountainous! - 19,310m vertical climbing,
570 miles, one week!
Yesterday I returned from a week in Tenerife. This was another endurance training week in the sun. This time it was with Phil Evans, Will O'Callaghan and Mark Lovett. Phil and Will both race on the road in France and Mark wins many of the domestic races (he is the guy on the front of the BCF calendar). As I have said before I like Tenerife, it is very mountainous, with Mount Teide standing at 3718m. You can ride your bike up to 2300m and this is from sea level not like in the alps were you set off from +1000m. We stayed in the "real" holiday area of Playa da Las Americas, I like this as when you return from a hard day out on your bike it is good to be in a holiday atmosphere - even if you don't participate in it! Tue 36 miles 1000m climbing Los Gigantes and up and back. Wed 110 miles 3700m climbing Vilaflor - mtn - observatory - Guimar - back Thur 74 miles 2000m climbing Masca - Buenavista - Tanque - back Fri 107 miles 3935m climbing Santiago - Orotava - mtn - Vilaflor Sat 60 miles 2400m climbing Chio - mtn - Vilaflor Sun 96 miles 2200m climbing Guimar and back Mon 79 miles 3100m climbing Masca backwards (Icod - Buenavista - Masca - Alcala)
