How do you make best use of applied philosophy within an organisation? The same golden rules apply as with any other consultancy: 1. Clearly define the objectives that you hope to achieve. 2. Consult with others in your organisation to agree those objectives. 3. Short-list no more than three consultants, and ask them to provide written proposals. 4. Brief the consultant properly. 5. Look for evidence that the chemistry will be right with the individual consultant. 6. Look for evidence of the nature and relevance of the consultants experience, qualifications and (above all) achievements. 7. Review and agree a written contract before the assignment starts. 8. Be involved and in touch during the assignment. 9. Ensure that the consultant does not save surprises for the final report. 10. Consider recommendations carefully and involve your management as well as the consultant.
