31st March - 1st April, 2006

(...and the event after that...)

Friday evening

  • 8.00pm-ish - Meet in the Cheshire Cheese (map) and have a drink and session.
  • The indoor camping is in Loxley Hall (map) which can be a slight challenge to find. Look for the church, there's a parking area at the front of it. Stand in the parking area with your back to the church, look right, there is a gate and beyond it a set of glass doors, which lead to the hall. Kitchen and loos available, no showers.

Saturday workshop and danceouts

  • 10:00am - 1:00pm Workshop in Loxley Hall (map)
  • 1:00pm - 2:00pm Lunch (in hall kitchen, pub or sandwich shop)
  • 2:00pm - Dancing at one of the pubs (Poachers?)
  • 3:00pm - another of the pubs (Woodroffe Arms?)
  • 4:00pm - the Tea Shop (Woodbine Cafe)

Dinner

  • Use the hall kitchen or go to the pub.

Saturday evening session

  • Dancing/playing (maybe the Old Hall, maybe Loxley Hall)

Sunday

  • 10:00 am Walk to Castleton for more dancing at the Cheshire Cheese, the George, possibly the Bull, and wherever else we fancy.

Accommodation options

  • Indoor camping at village hall £4 per person per night. Bring a bed.
  • Alternative accommodation: the Woodroffe Arms does B&B (01433 620351) or there's a private home sort of B&B up Edale Road: Underleigh House, 01433 621372

Freaks in the Peaks badges and t-shirts for sale on the day. Dance/music notation available when we manage to photocopy before leaving for the event. Better yet, download it or print it from here (dances) or here (tunes).

Everyone welcome - especially beginners and REALLY ESPECIALLY musicians.

If you have them, please bring rag jackets or similar; bells; sticks/hankies; and photos of previous events!

Notes:

  • The charge for attending this Freaks (not including camping) is a mere £4.00 per head.
  • Indoor camping (when relevant) in the hall on Friday and Saturday nights is priced £4.00 per head per night.
  • Other accomodation is available: see above.
  • Name badges can be ordered at £1.50 each, standard team badges for sale to anyone at £1.
  • Dance and music notation are available at the link above or below, and sometimes we have photocopies at the event, though we try to be more paper free than that.
  • If you get any good pictures, send me copies, it might motivate me to change the photo gallery.

Lastly, a reminder that anyone with an interest is welcome to join us. Rag Jackets available to borrow(sometimes). Repertoire for this weekend will be the same as previously, see Dances and/or Tunes, some of which are grossly wrong, so don't get too involved.

The event after that:

Well, there's the boat trip 5-7 May, which is extra (not one of the regular four yearly freaks) and then a freaks in probably early july, no date set yet. Working on it.
