god

The Crypt, Camberwell
Tickets £6 (£4 concessions)
As part of Camberwell
Live! the
Scottish Clarinet Quartet and
trombonist George Murray are proud to present the first performance of
a new
work commissioned from composer Matthew Rogers. SCQ has been working with
Matthew
Rogers since 2003, and god of doors
is their third project together.
As in
the earlier works, the players have a high degree of creative control
in the
realisation of the piece, which includes aleatoric and
quasi-improvisatory
material. It is named after the Roman god Janus and is inspired by
ideas of
transition, with the trombone included as the 'catalyst for change'.
SCQ and Matthew Rogers
gratefully acknowledge financial support from the PRS-Foundation and
Britten-Pears Trust.
"...this
RSAMD-bred chamber group is making its mark as much
through the vision of its commissioning as with the singularity of its
line-up and the virtuosity of the playing." The
