How to Find us Places to Visit Views Bookings Breakfast Menu
Our cosy home nestling amongst the woodlands in the beautiful Conwy Valley has superb views across to the river and the historic Carneddau hills. This area has a milder micro climate and our rain is warmer than in the rest of the country!
During roof renovations we found 17th century pegged slates on the original roof which was still under the 20th century one! This adds to our records that show a dwelling to have been on this spot since the early 1600s. We have details of the previous occupiers and their families back to 1668, and often have their descendants, from all parts of the world, coming back to do research. Jesse left here aged 18, in 1895 and we have met many of his family.
The 8 acres of fields surrounding the house and garden still retain the old names given on the tithe register. An ingle-nook fire-place, oak beams and the Victorian pitch-pine mantel-shelf all add to the friendly atmosphere of Firs Cottage and bear witness to its age. We take pride in showing you the original features of our home, including the three foot thick walls!
We have books, maps and leaflets, available on most topics, to help you plan your visits, walks and longer excursions. We are happy to make suggestions for your days out too! (If you want us to help!) If you wish to bring a meal (and a drink!) back to eat here, you may use the dining room or the patio, depending on the weather!
We love living here at Firs Cottage and we enjoy sharing sharing it with our guests.

We have noticed that some B&Bs list guest's comments but as we have been looking after B&B guests since July 1986 we have far too many that we could highlight. I could have used comments with very fulsome praise but we prefer a Yorkshireman's straight forward statements! We have permission to quote Geoff's words.
